An excerpt from the letter of recommendation by Wilfried Lemke:
Adopting this innovative program “Making Children Strong through Sport”, Jambo Bukoba holistically inculcates aspects of health by specifically focusing on the prevention of HIV/AIDS coupled with education and sport to achieve our goal.
Through this programme, sports teachers are trained to become strong characters and role models to young people and to equip their pupils with personal development capabilities such as self-reflection, self-confidence, accountability and communication.
The United Nations sees sport as a strong medium for the advancement of education, health, development and peace. Sport unites people of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds in a positive as well as educationally valuable way.
As the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace, it is with great pleasure that I pledge my complete support for one year to the non-governmental organization Jambo Bukoba with the Making Children Strong through Sport program.
