“Help for Helpers”
startsocial is a nationwide competition to promote voluntary social engagement and is under the sponsorship of Chancellor Angela Merkel. startsocial regularly supports 100 social initiatives through four-month consultancy grants, in which experts from the private sector, the public sector and the non-profit sector work together with the scholars to further develop their initiatives, and to realize projects or optimize existing projects.
The most convincing 25 projects will be invited to Berlin for the festive award ceremony. Seven outstanding initiatives receive cash prizes totaling 35,000 EUR (one of which was Jambo Bukoba in 2015), including a special prize from the Federal Chancellor.
At the startsocial 2015 award ceremony in the Federal Chancellery, Clemens Mulokozi from Jambo Bukoba was awarded by Angela Merkel with a cash prize!
Well beyond the four-month consultation phase, startsocial offers scholarship holders access to valuable contacts and individual pro bono consulting services through the alumni network. Jambo Bukoba takes advantage of the offers and networks that result.
Relieving poverty and improving access to education and healthcare is one of the greatest global goals of our time. Not only the commitment of politics and the economy, but also the active participation of individual citizens are needed for their implementation.
With the Allianz Senior Expert Program, we promote the voluntary commitment of our employees beyond their time at Allianz. In doing so, we create the transfer of knowledge and core competencies from our company to the social sector. We are pleased that two of our senior experts are supporting Jambo Bukoba as coaches as part of the startsocial competition. We are convinced of the sustainable philosophy of the association and wish him continued success in his work in Tanzania.
